Improvement work in Corsham making good progress
Ageing traffic signals are being replaced at the junction by the Cross Keys Inn as well as some resurfacing improvements being carried out, with work set to be completed in September.
The first phase saw the new traffic signals installed to replace the current system.
The second phase of work sees surfacing improvements take place overnight at the end of August. During this time, it will be necessary to close all roads at the junction to complete these activities. This is in addition to the measures in place for phase one, which will continue to operate outside of the full closure period. To mitigate against the impact on the network, work will take place between 8pm and 6am. Given the nature of traffic on the A4, the diversionary route requires traffic to follow the A4 / A46 / A420 / A350 (and vice versa). These works are anticipated to last for five nights.
Bridget Wayman, Conservative Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Highways, said: " Work is moving at a good pace and we're pleased with the progress. We ask for people's patience for a little while longer while we complete the job and we hope they're not inconvenienced too much."
A dedicated webpage continues to provide updates and information on the improvements.
