Kennet Valley Carriage Driving Group for the disabled
I have had a fantastic opportunity to take a ride in one of the Kennet Valley Carriage Driving Group for the disabled (KVDG) carriages today. This superb charity is based in Lockeridge and gives their clients the chance to drive in specially adapted carriages that are able to accommodate wheelchairs, with a Riding for the Disabled Association qualified driver alongside.
An Open Garden event in Lockeridge on 3 July was organised to fund raise for the KVDG. Carolyn and Martin Stimpson invited us into their lovely colourful garden, filled with a range of unusual plants, and provided a delicious cream tea. A cheque for £2,000.00 was also presented to the KVDG.
Driving sessions take place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10am to 1pm and the group drives throughout the year. During summer months there are opportunities to explore the Marlborough Downs.
