Tidworth Pool to reopen in October
Tidworth pool will reopen to the public in October after a major refurbishment programme, which has included complete resurfacing of the swimming pool surround.
The work, carried out by Aspire Defence, will mean users will be able to benefit from an improved facility when it reopens.
The programme has remained on track throughout delivery of works and was scheduled to complete by the expected date. However, due to unforeseen circumstances and the need to carry out emergency remedial works, the opening date of the swimming pool is now rescheduled for 22 October.
John Thomson, cabinet member for leisure, said: "We look forward to Tidworth swimming pool being open, as part of the programme of refurbishment at Tidworth Leisure Centre.
"The pool improvements are part of a wider refurbishment of Tidworth Leisure Centre, which included a new atrium roof, roof refurbishment and new heating and hot water systems.
"All facilities at the centre are currently open with the exception of the pool, which will open on 22 October, so the centre will be fully operational on that date. In the meantime, members can continue to access swimming at other pools in the area."
Wiltshire Council's swim school programme is currently available at Durrington Pool.
The Tidworth Leisure Centre building is owned by the Ministry of Defence; Aspire Defence manages the building and Wiltshire Council manages the public leisure operations for the site.
