I am very pleased to have been elected to be the Wiltshire Councillor for Bromham, Rowde and Roundway. I enjoy representing my constituents and always respond quickly and efficiently when I am asked to help. I have resolved many issues for residents and am known for “getting the job done”.
I was the Chairman of Devizes Area Board for four years, awarding numerous grants to local voluntary groups and sports clubs. I led the project to create the skate park at Green Lane and it is great to see young people enjoying themselves on this wonderful facility.
Reducing congestion on the London Road was my key election promise in 2017. I am pleased that the new junction at Windsor Drive has significantly reduced traffic along the London Road and pollution levels have dropped.
I have a particular interest in improving lives for our children and young people. I enjoyed my time as a School Governor to Nursteed Primary School and Downlands Special School and have been the Cabinet Member for Children’s Services since 2013. I am particularly proud of the project to expand the Special School at Rowde, with an investment of over £30m to create a state of art facility for our children with Special Educational Needs.
I am from a farming family and have lived in Wiltshire for over 20 years. I love living in a rural area, walking my (very badly behaved) dogs, and seeing the farmers at work as the seasons change. I look forward to working with Bromham and Rowde residents and parish councils to improve services and facilities in your area.
I am married and have two (almost!) grown up sons and enjoy running, surfing, wild swimming and cooking.
Please get in touch if you would like help with any issue, or have ideas on how to improve our area.
Fighting Gull Menace
Over 900 local residents signed my online Gull Survey – thank you very much! We started a programme 5 years ago to remove the eggs. This was working well but unfortunately Natural England refused the necessary licence for two years in a row and numbers have increased again. I am working with Devizes Town Council and our local MP to lobby for a licence for this year.
Saving the Assize Courts
I am a Trustee of the Devizes Assize Courts and am proud to be part of the team to save this iconic building to be the new home the Wiltshire Museum.
Devizes Covid Support Group
As a founder member of the Devizes Covid Support Group I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who got involved to help residents during the pandemic. Working with Devizes Churches Together, and Devizes Town Council we recruited over 350 volunteers, delivered 15,000 leaflets, received over 5,000 requests for help, delivered 800 free meals to families in need and made over 1,000 calls to people needed extra support.
I took many calls from people who needed help and it was good to hear their stories, knowing we were making a difference.
