I was elected as the Wiltshire Councillor for Ethandune, which covers the villages of Dilton Marsh, Hawkeridge, Heywood, Bratton, Edington and Coulston in September 2019.
I am honored to represent the people of Ethandune at Wiltshire Council, especially as my late husband, Jerry Wickham, was the Councillor for this area since 2014. I work very closely with all the Parish Councils and always respond quickly to residents’ enquiries where I look to find local solutions to any issues.
We have so many brilliant volunteer groups in this area, who give their time in so many ways. Whether it is maintaining the fabric of our villages, keeping them clean and tidy, running our village halls, or generally looking out for each other, their activities really enhance village life, and I am totally committed to supporting all these wonderful groups.
Ethandune villages are served by the B3098 and the B3097. These roads cross the A350 just north of Westbury, and like many country roads they were never built to take the volume and type of traffic that we see today. Together with all the Parish Councils, who work tirelessly to make our roads as safe as possible, we have achieved a variety of grants from the Westbury CATG (Community Area Transport Group). These grants have been used to provide various road safety measures including Speed Indicator Devices, more visible road signs, 20mph limits in country lanes and better crossing facilities. I will always support residents and Parish Councils with local projects to enhance road safety.
I have lived in Wiltshire villages most of my life and worked across the county in my previous career as a Police Officer. I’m passionate about walking and cycling in the beautiful countryside we are so lucky to have around us. I have two Labradors that ensure I am out and about every day.
We lived in Keevil for 26 years and I have recently moved to Steeple Ashton. I have two grown up sons who both live and work in Wiltshire. I have been a member of Keevil Parish Council since 2017 and have also spent many years as a Trustee and fundraiser for a County wide Children’s charity. I am totally committed to this County and very proud of the services that Wiltshire Council provides, many of which we all know about but also all the unseen but nevertheless crucial work that goes on to keep us safe.
